It\u2019s a physiological one.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">The Nervous System: Where Awakening Is Felt<\/span><\/strong><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Your nervous system is your body\u2019s safety system. Beneath conscious thought, it is constantly asking:<\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">\u201cAm I safe right now?\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">When the nervous system feels regulated:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">breathing slows<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">the body feels grounded<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">emotions move without overwhelming you<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">thoughts feel clearer and less urgent<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">When the nervous system is <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">dysregulated<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">, the body remains in a state of threat, even if no immediate danger exists. This can feel like:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">anxiety or panic<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">racing or looping thoughts<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">emotional reactivity<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">hypervigilance<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">difficulty resting or feeling present<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">During spiritual awakening, the nervous system is often highly activated. Old identities dissolve, familiar beliefs fall away, and the body doesn\u2019t always understand what\u2019s happening.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">When safety feels threatened, the ego steps in to manage the discomfort.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">The Ego Voice: Survival and Automatic Reaction<\/span><\/strong><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">The ego is the part of you that learned how to survive.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">It is shaped by past experiences, emotional wounds, fear of loss or rejection, and conditioning. Its job is protection.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">When the nervous system senses uncertainty, the ego reacts quickly to regain control.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">The <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">ego voice<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\"> often sounds like:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">\u201cSomething is wrong.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">\u201cI need to fix this now.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">\u201cI can\u2019t relax.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">\u201cWhat if this gets worse?\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">From a nervous system perspective, the ego is trying to regulate distress \u2014 but it does so through urgency, control, and fear-based thinking. It represents inner awareness and intelligence, we are all born with that can notice emotions, sense intuition, and respond consciously rather than automatically.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">In the chart:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">The <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Ego<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\"> is associated with automatic survival patterns like fear responses, habits, and emotional reactions.<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">The <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Higher Self<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\"> is shown deeper in the brain to symbolize connection to intuition and inner awareness.<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Thoughtful, intentional decisions are linked to frontal brain activity, which becomes more accessible when the nervous system is calm.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">People tend to experience Higher Self guidance when the body feels safe, the breath slows, and attention turns inward. When the nervous system is activated, survival takes over and subtle guidance becomes harder to hear.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">This is where the Higher Self comes in.<\/span><\/p><h2><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">The Higher Self: Guidance Through Safety<\/span><\/strong><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">The <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Higher Self<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\"> is not something outside of you.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">It is the part of you that is aware, present, and capable of conscious choice. It operates from a deeper intelligence \u2014 one that can hold the bigger picture even when fear is present.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Unlike the ego, the Higher Self doesn\u2019t try to control the nervous system.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">It regulates through <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">safety and presence<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">It\u2019s often experienced as:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">calm clarity<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">inner knowing<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">compassion<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">steadiness<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">a sense of truth beneath emotion<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">When the Higher Self is leading:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">the body softens<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">breathing slows<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">thoughts lose urgency<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">emotions feel more manageable<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Rather than forcing change, the Higher Self creates the conditions where regulation happens naturally.<\/span><\/p><h2><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">When Awakening Feels Overwhelming<\/span><\/strong><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">If the nervous system stays dysregulated for too long, awakening can feel frightening instead of expansive.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">This is when people may experience:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">fear that something is \u201cwrong\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">resistance to their own experience<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">endless seeking for answers<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">emotional shutdown or overwhelm<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Without inner guidance, the ego takes over completely.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">For me, this was the turning point.<\/span><\/p><h2><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">My Experience: Learning to Trust My Higher Self<\/span><\/strong><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">After a spontaneous kundalini awakening, my nervous system was in constant fear.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">I didn\u2019t feel safe in my body. My mind searched endlessly for answers, and the coping strategies I once relied on no longer worked. Too much external input actually increased my overwhelm.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">At that time, my Higher Self became my only teacher.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Almost by chance, (althouh now I\u2019m convinced it was Higher Self that led me to this book) I found <\/span><em><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Chronic Pleasure<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\"> and began practicing her heart-focused meditations. I did them repeatedly \u2014 sometimes ten times a day \u2014 not to force healing, but because they helped my body feel safe.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Through those practices, I began to feel unconditional love \u2014 not as a concept, but as a lived experience. That loving presence regulated my nervous system in a way nothing else could.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Two months later, the kundalini energy that had been concentrated in my lower chakras naturally moved into my heart.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">That shift didn\u2019t happen through effort or control.<br \/>It happened through safety, openness, and Higher Self guidance.<\/span><\/p><p><\/p><h3>Our Higher Self has been quietly guiding us throughout our lives. It\u2019s always been there in the background \u2014 we just don\u2019t always know how to listen. Over time, many of us lose touch with this inner guidance as we slip into survival mode, relying more on the ego to keep us safe and get through life. Reconnecting is less about learning something new and more about remembering how to receive what\u2019s already been there.<\/h3><p><\/p><h2><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">How Higher Self Guidance Shows Up<\/span><\/strong><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Higher Self guidance rarely arrives as loud instructions.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">More often, it shows up as:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">a quiet moment of clarity, an \u2018aha\u2019 moment<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">a calm sense of knowing<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">a subtle nudge to rest instead of push<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">a conversation or phrase that resonates deeply<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">repeating numbers or meaningful coincidences<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Over time, the practice becomes less about searching and more about noticing.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Higher Self guidance feels settling, not activating.<br \/>Clear, not urgent.<br \/>Supportive, not pressuring.<\/span><\/p><h2><strong><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">In a nutshell: Ego Voice vs. Higher Roman', serif;\">Tries to regulate through force<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">Feels tight and pausing, and allowing the Higher Self to guide you back into safety and presence.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'Times New Roman', serif;\">This isn\u2019t about perfection.<br \/>It\u2019s
